In Sue We Trust

I arrived in the capital of China on April 1.
If you were expecting another horror story about airplanes I'm afraid I have the exact opposite to report this time. My team flew Air Qatar, which just so happens to be the most exquisite airline I've ever been on. We've nicknamed it "Gangsta Airlines". I can honestly say the accumulative 14 hours of flying quite literally flew by. I was almost disappointed it was over.
Which I don't think too many people have ever felt before in their lives.
It's currently my 3rd day in China and it's been absolutely fantastic.
The first day was just exploring and settling in to our hostel.
The second day on the other hand was about as good as it gets. My teammate Jon Chong, has a cousin named Sue, living in China so she took it upon herself to show us around...and give us the full China experience, which she most certainly did.
First she took us out to a full on amazing Chinese dinner, with a total of about 10 huge dishes, including 2 Beijing ducks, which you should most definitely dabble in if you ever make the trip, and other things which I'm not entirely sure what they were, but they were delicious.
Then she took us to this amazing dessert place where they serve this dessert that is somewhere between milk shake, ice cream and slushy. We got 2 of these in the famous Beijing bean flavour, one peanut butter, 2 fudge and strawberry. Sue, then took us to this amazing massage place and got us a back massage and Chinese a foot massage.
And this was all on her dime. She paid and arranged everything.
"In Sue We Trust".
After a few marriage proposals and crazy thanks we all went back to the hostel with a "did that just happen" kind of mentality. Needless to say, we apologize to the teams in Africa and Central America. We're not sure why, but were sure we've done something wrong.
Yesterday we went to go see Mao at Tiananmen Squre, the Forbidden City and later we hit up the crazy Chinese markets. Today were making our way to the Great Wall of China. It's been alot of fun here, and I can honestly say Beijing is an awesome city. So far it's not what I expected at all, I don't really feel like I'm in Asia. I'm sad to be leaving this Saturday when we hop on a train for 30 hours to Chongqing. Yes, 30 hours is not a typo.
But China definitely has a smell to it, which happens to be the smell of a Chinese Food place in North America.

And yes, Chinese Food is all it's cracked up to be. In fact, eating is pretty much the highlight to my day, everyday. And no, it's not anything like the Mandarin.
Cheers.

P.S. China has hockey highlights.
P.P.S. if you enlarge the second picture, you can tell my fly is a bit open....
Why did i put this up?
