This past week Zack and I spent a week crashing at my friend Eric's place. We snowboarded a ton, drove around a lot, visited Maggie, drove, read, hot tub and drove around. It was actually a whole lot of fun, until the day I flew home, upon which a whole slew of unfortunate events took place. All of which I don't feel like talking about but the story ends with me flying Air Canada to Toronto late last night, and my luggage flying to Chicago and then Buffalo on United early yesterday.
This flight mishap nightmare provided me with ample time in Denver Int'l Airport (15 hours) and I decided to make a list of ways 2010 can be better than 2009.
Enjoy
1. Rid ourselves of 1-ply toilet paper once and for all.
It's too thin, it's annoying and of extremely low quality. It doesn't save any paper cause you have to use twice as much. Let's just get it out for good.
2. More T-Swift. One thing I learned about America, is that they absolutely love Taylor Swift. She was on the radio all the time and I'm not complaining. We all know that we all love t-swift so let's just get it out there. Another album would certainly help out 2010.
3. Getting rid of the "likes this" button on facebook. It's dumb. I always picture a crowd of people watching something behind glass and then all of them giving a thumbs up of approval in a particularly geekish way. If you like it, just type it out. It's the ultimate in un-intimate communication. Our generation has taken this concept to it's extremes. We've given up talking to each other, phone calls, instant messaging and face to face contact and we've replaced it with creeping on facebook profiles and NOW instead of typing out a personal message we hit a button that says "likes this" instead. We've hit rock bottom in terms of socializing. We can do better.
4. Talking to people rather than machines. It's the ultimate in annoyance and frustration. E.g. Calling United Airlines Customer Service trying to sort my life out and having a woman's voice go "if you need information on current or future reservations say yes", Sorry, I didn't hear that right, try again, here's a tip, if you ever need to hear the instructions again, say "back". It would literally take a person 5 seconds to figure out what I need and transfer me, instead I wait 10 minutes from a machine and then never end up finding out what I need to know.
5. Not ever flying United Airlines again, would definitely top off my 2010.
cheers.
