Camp 182

This past Sunday, I got to go back in time.
Not actually, obviously.
Now that I read that, it's a pretty lame way to start a blog. But to be honest, paying over $100 (in gas, parking, t-shirts, tickets etc.) to see a band you loved in elementary school is kind of lame too.
But the thousands of people who packed the Amphitheatre last Sunday would say otherwise. Yes, I took a long drive down to Toronto this past weekend to see Blink and Weezer musically tear up and down Ontario Place. It rocked so much that I made the ultimate in irrational decisions and bought a t-shirt while I was there. I could've just waited a month and bought it online for a tenth of the price. But when Travis Barker's drum set starts flying through the air while he's doing a solo, you tend to do crazy things like buy a t-shirt for far too much money just because it has a bunch of dates on the back of it.
Anyway,
I couldn't help but think how unbelievably fun it would be to be in a band this popular, fun and influential. To have thousands of people, like myself, be able to sing every lyric of every song about how we won't listen to our parents ridiculous rules and regulations, i have a crush on every girl and having the right to vote, even though I already do.

I'm still wrestling with whether I should be ashamed or proud or if I should ever mention this again.
Regardless, it was a day that I needed to myself, and since that's almost impossible to get at Camp, it was well worth the money. Even if a portion of it was spent on over priced fabric.

This past week, was my final week at Camp for this Summer.
I went from Cabin leading kids that are 8, doing a Day camp for kids from ages 7-11 for 4 weeks, and helping Gabsy and Zack do chapel for 2-5 year olds. This has definitely prepared me for Youth Week, in which I partnered a cabin filled with 18 year olds.
From 8 to 18. Not a big deal.
I will never under value decent conversation and being able to actually hang out with my cabin(s) ever again.
Although I did miss having kids get naked in the middle of the soccer field, throw (sometimes violent) tantrums in what ever activity we did, swear at the top of their lungs, hate all activities, climb trees, get stuck in trees, take a month to change, and spend hours playing in the sand/mud/lake. And who can forget the excitement of watching every single individual horse take a drink from the trough. Captivating.
Ya, it's pretty give and take.
All in all, Day Camp rocked, I have far too many stories, those kids are hilarious.
My Youth week cabin that I prayer partnered, also hilarious, but in a completely different way. More of a, "I'm not laughing at you, but with you", kind of way.

Cheers.
